Today I received a text from my husband:
I'll be home in a bit. Can't wait to grab a nice beer with ya tonight. (You can get a nice Merlot, of course.)
How sweet!
This text reminded me to get excited about date night. And to be thankful wherever we go and whatever we do.
To say 'thank you'.
To be pleasant, and to talk about happy, good things.
You both work hard; this is your time to enjoy each other immensely.
Date night is a privilege. It's an honor to go out with your man.
The days leading up to it show your excitement and enthusiasm for spending time together.
Put notes in his lunch box, send him a text or email, all saying that you're looking forward to your date.
11 years ago, I watched Something's Gotta Give with Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton.
Watch it and you'll see what I mean.
If you can't watch it, here's what you need to know.
Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton's characters get divorced.
Jack Nicholson brings his new 20-year-old girlfriend to his daughter's high school graduation party, which is at his ex-wife's (Diane Keaton) house.
Diane Keaton goes ballistic about this 20-year-old girlfriend.
Jack Nicholson's reply is epic.
She gets excited when I take her out to dinner. She bubbles over with joy and appreciation over her steak dinner.
With this, I thought, how miserable and grumpy married women can be. Yuck! Who wants that!
Always stay happy and thankful for everything your husband does for you.
Remember, his life revolves around your happiness.
He will set the sun, moon, and stars at your feet.
Some ideas for texts, emails, and notes in his lunchbox:
"3 days and counting till our date."
"Thanks for asking me out this weekend! I can't wait."
"Sooo looking forward to just you and me Friday night."
